The building of the first credit bank in Smederevo was raised in 1904, following the project of the engineer Jovan Banic and Dimitrije Milosevic. The building of the first credit bank is representative, massive, created in the style of eclecticism from the beginning of the 20th century and falls among the few valuable architectural creations in Serbia of that time which were business buildings.
The first credit bank in Smederevo was founded in 1871, and was one of the first banks in Serbia. The founders were merchants from Smederevo, and as Smederevo at that time was a border town in which a great commerce between Serbia and Austria-Hungary, it was to be expected that soon after the Belgrade Credit Council and the First Serbian Bank, the First Credit Bank in Smederevo was also founded.
The former hotel "Ninic" was built in 1928/29 and represents a fine example of urban architecture in the historistic spirit of the twenties of the 20th century.
